Send a Photo of your Pet
When we connect, I will ask you to send me a link to the reference photo of your pet. Please choose carefully as I will be using the reference image closely. Your painting will resemble your pet as much as possible, but with colorful vibrance and creative flair! Just make sure your photo is fairly high-resolution (the less pixelated the better).
What to Expect
I create pet portraits digitally on an iPad using an Apple Pencil with Procreate. You'll have the option to purchase only the digital file, a print, a canvas, or all three. (Please note that physical versions of your pet's portrait will incur an extra cost.)
Does it have to be a pet?
Nope! You can request any animal, bird, reptile, or even a still life! (Ladybugs, butterflies and mushrooms are also favorites of mine, so feel free to request those.) I can also paint landscapes but prefer to paint a close-up subject. I may also take a human portrait commission on occasion. Keep in mind pricing may vary with different subjects.
How much can I customize my picture?
You can definitely request background or color changes! I'm also able to make small omissions (for example, if there's something in the picture you don't want, I can leave it out.) However, I prefer to stick the reference fairly closely. If there's something you want to add to your pet (like a hat or a favorite toy,) we can discuss it!
Print vs Canvas: which should you choose?
A print is a flat piece of archival, high quality paper that is printed with giclee inks for a professional look. It's more affordable than a canvas and can still be mounted and framed to look spectacular! If you select a canvas, your painting will be printed with giclee ink on a stretched gallery-wrapped canvas. Bear in mind it will not have the same texture and dimension as physical paint, but from a distance it will communicate like it! I have selected a provider that uses eco-friendly paper, canvas and inks, without sacrificing quality, so you can rest assured your art is gentle on the environment :)
Pricing
Once you are happy with the details, I'll send you the pricing total. I'll make a special listing for you in the app of your choice that you can purchase (Etsy, Instagram or my website).
Pricing is dictated by the number of pets, the size of the painting, and the format. Prints will be less expensive than a canvas. You can also have the option of buying it pre-framed. Let me know in the special requests section if this is the case!
IMPORTANT: Pricing is not negotiable. Additionally, once a final image has been sent, payment is nonrefundable.
Delivery
I will send you a mid-resolution, watermarked image of your painting when it is close to completion (usually within 1 week from date of purchase). If there are any small changes you would like to make to the painting (for example changing the background color), now is the time to let me know! Please note I am not able to make drastic changes such as adding a new pet or changing the pose.
If everything looks good, I'll set up the final image and send it over! At this point, I will confirm if you would like a physical copy such as a print or canvas. If so, I will order the print or canvas for you and it will be shipped to your home. If the cost of materials and shipping has not been covered prior to this, I will create a separate listing for you to purchase so you can have your physical copy.
