Why Make Art? Part One

Hi there! I'd like to introduce myself.
My name is Sarah, and I'm an artist and art teacher living in the suburbs of Los Angeles, California.
For a long time, I have wanted to cultivate a space online to share my art, and my thoughts about it. Art has been with me my entire life. But it's taken me a very long time to come to terms with that, and to feel comfortable sharing it online.
Our society and our culture makes creativity a difficult path to pursue. However, I feel that every person, as a human being, feels a need to create. Whether it's visual arts, dance, music, writing, poetry, pottery, knitting, or any form of expression... To be human is to create, and to create is to be human.
In difficult times (and when are times not difficult?) I think it is more important than ever to cling to art. I happen to really like drawing and painting, so that is what I do.
I hope if you are reading this, you take the time to think about what it is you long to create, and find a way to make it happen. It's really the most important thing you can do.
Welcome. If we haven't met before, it's nice to meet you. And thanks for reading.
